The call to transition to green technologies, driven by pressing environmental concerns and the pursuit of sustainable energy sources, is unequivocal. This chapter sheds light on the significance of energy storage in the green technology revolution that is still going on. It covers various topics including renewable energy sources and how important it is to have dependable energy storage systems to fill in the gaps caused by their intermittent nature, providing an in-depth analysis of several energy storage technologies, including enhanced flywheels, batteries, thermal storage, pumped hydro-storage, and supercapacitors. It also stresses the significance of energy storage technology in grid administration. In addition to facilitating load balancing and renewable energy source integration, they employ peak 272 shaving to maintain system stability.
