English
An independent, non-peer-reviewed commentary re-examining Wang et al. (Nature, 2026), which models global PV waste through 2060 and evaluates 1,708 recycling/trade/subsidy scenarios for economic-climate equity. It identifies five logical gaps (G1–G5) around behavioral and institutional assumptions—income-fixed parameters, unseparated technical vs. capital barriers, survival functions excluding early retirement, aggregated break-even thresholds, and decoupling from broader e-waste streams. The author rates the original's inferential reliability Medium–Low, positioning it as a methodological reference rather than a direct policy basis.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
As PV deployment matures, end-of-life module waste and circular-economy policy are rising on the global disclosure and transition-planning agenda. This commentary's critique of scenario assumptions and equity claims is useful for readers assessing the robustness of climate-transition modelling that underpins policy and investment cases.

📄 Abstract(原文)
An independent, non-peer-reviewed commentary on Wang et al. (Nature, 2026), conducted under the Section Zero: Minimal Scientific Validation Framework. The original paper builds an integrated GCAM–MFA–LCA/LCC modelling framework to project global photovoltaic (PV) waste through 2060 (297–402 million tonnes) and evaluates 1,708 scenarios combining recycling technology, cross-border trade, and subsidy policy to optimize economic-climate benefits while reducing distributional inequality across regions. This report re-examines the paper's internal reasoning chain, cross-checked directly against the original manuscript and the publicly available Peer Review File across three review rounds. It identifies five logical gaps (G1–G5) not fully resolved by the authors or Nature's reviewers, centered on the behavioral/institutional variables driving the paper's equity conclusions and policy recommendations: (i) a region-sensitivity parameter fixed by income group, not modelling endogenous investment dynamics; (ii) no separation between technical and capital barriers for mid-tier recycling technologies; (iii) a Weibull survival function that explicitly excludes early retirement due to economic obsolescence; (iv) break-even/capacity thresholds computed at the aggregated 32-region GCAM level, not at the individual-country level; (v) PV treated as an independent unit of analysis, decoupled from the broader industrial/e-waste recycling material stream. Conclusion: the original paper's inferential reliability is rated Medium–Low — a valuable methodological reference, but not yet sufficient grounds for direct policy or long-term R&D direction without further corroborating research. Does not replace Nature's official peer review. Keywords photovoltaic waste; PV recycling; Nature; logical review; gap analysis; scenario modelling; GCAM; material flow analysis; life cycle assessment; life cycle costing; climate equity; environmental justice; energy policy; circular economy; Section Zero; peer review verification; scientific methodology critique; renewable energy waste; open review
