📄 Abstract(原文)
Abstract This paper presents a steam trap management project for the steam network of a petrochemical plant, led by a third-party project developer on the operator's behalf. The project sets out to deliver guaranteed gas savings through a performance-based model that sustains steam trap uptime, minimizes steam losses, reduces natural gas consumption by approximately 4.15 million standard cubic meters (MMSCM)/year, improves safety and avoids approximately 9.3 kilotonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (ktCO2e) annually. The project was developed from a structured site survey and field inspection of the steam trap network, which found faulty traps amounting to 49.5% of the inspected population. Rather than replacing those traps like for like, the proposed model begins with root cause analysis to establish why they failed, selects trap types suited to the duties they serve, and defines the preventive actions needed to keep them serviceable. An uptime guarantee then ties the delivery of savings to sustained trap performance through inspection routines, corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and measured fuel gas reduction, and it is that linkage which constitutes the GESCO model. The developer manages turnkey execution, covering engineering, component delivery and site coordination, and aggregates projects across sites to improve project economics. The completed assessment demonstrated that steam trap management can be structured as a performance-driven energy efficiency opportunity rather than a one-time maintenance replacement activity. The faulty traps identified, at 49.5% of the inspected population, underline the importance of sustained trap uptime if savings are to be reliable. The project is expected to reduce natural gas consumption by approximately 4.15 MMSCM/year and to avoid around 9.3 ktCO2e/year. and it is also expected to reduce boiler feedwater make-up demand and to address the safety concerns associated with water accumulation around leaking steam traps. It is economically attractive, with an internal rate of return greater than 10%, and its recommended recovery mechanism rests on confirmed, measured and verified fuel gas savings, aligning project performance directly with the realization of savings. During execution a comprehensive steam trap management program will be developed to support root cause analysis, inspection routines, corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and the continuous mitigation of steam losses, strengthening long-term energy performance and supporting wider decarbonization objectives. The contribution of this work is an integrated project development model that moves steam trap programs beyond like-for-like replacement and toward guaranteed gas savings secured through sustained trap uptime under a GESCO structure. Its additive value lies in linking root cause analysis. measured and verified fuel gas savings. CO2 reduction. turnkey execution and performance-based recovery into a single replicable model for industrial decarbonization.
