English
This dataset provides emission factors for the openIO-Canada v2.11 database for the reference year 2022, covering 473 commodities across 13 provinces. The factors are per Canadian dollar in purchaser prices, include infrastructure impacts via capital endogenization, and are disaggregated by Scope 1-3 (upstream) according to the GHG Protocol. They cover 44 indicators using the IMPACT World+ v2.1 LCIA methodology.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
日本のGX文脈において
日本ではSSBJ開示やScope3算定が進むが、産業連関表ベースの原単位整備が課題。本データはカナダ版だが、資本内生化やスコープ別区分の方法論は日本の原単位開発に参考になる。
In the global GX context
This dataset contributes to global carbon accounting infrastructure by providing a transparent, open-source, and capital-endogenized input-output-based emission factor database. It supports Scope 3 upstream calculations and aligns with GHG Protocol, offering a model for other countries developing national databases.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Emission factors for the openIO-Canada v2.11 database, for the reference year 2022. They cover 473 commodities across 13 provinces. These factors are per Canadian dollar (e.g., kgCO2eq/CAD or CTUe/CAD). They are in purchaser price, they can thus directly be used with typically available purchase information, without needing pre-treatment. Finally, they were generated using the capital-endogenized version of openIO-Canada, the factors therefore include impacts from infrastructure. There are 44 indicators that are covered through the IMPACT World+ v2.1 life cycle impact assessment (LCIA) methodology. The typical carbon footprint indicator is called "Climate change, short term". For users looking to do more than a simple carbon footprint, they are encouraged to read more about the concept of midpoint and area of protection, as applied in IW+ (https://www.impactworldplus.org/). Factors are also provided as disaggregated between the 3 scopes as define in the GHG protocol. Note however, that since it is based on Input-Output, these are cradle-to-gate emission factors, which thus only cover the upstream of scope 3 and not the downstream.
