📄 Abstract(原文)

Artificial intelligence has emerged as a crucial enabler of climate change mitigation, adaptation, and sustainability transitions. From the optimization of renewable energy infrastructure to the improvement of climate modeling and disaster risk prediction, AI-based tools have shown immense potential for improving environmental decision-making. Nevertheless, the growing use of computationally intensive AI systems also poses environmental, governance, and equity risks that are currently inadequately addressed in climate debates. This chapter explores the double-edged nature of AI as both a climate solution and a potential source of environmental burden through energy consumption, carbon emissions, and infrastructural requirements. The chapter presents an energy-aware responsible AI framework that combines technical efficiency, environmental responsibility, policy alignment, and Global South engagement. By connecting machine learning innovation and sustainability governance, this chapter provides a systematic approach to integrating AI with long-term and equitable climate transitions
