English
This paper synthesizes the full lifecycle of plastics—from petrochemical extraction to oceanic degradation—to assess its contribution to global GHG emissions from a geographical perspective. Using carbon budget charts, process flows, and comparative statistics, it examines how plastic production worsens emissions and how marine microplastics disrupt biological carbon sinks. It also critiques current policy tools such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and circular economy frameworks.

In the global GX context
Globally, plastic lifecycle emissions are increasingly relevant to Scope 3 accounting, CSRD value-chain reporting, and the UN plastics treaty negotiations. This paper links material lifecycle analysis to climate disclosure debates, offering a framing for how EPR and circular-economy policy interact with corporate GHG inventories.

📄 Abstract(原文)
AbstractClimate change represents one of the most pressing global challenges of the 21st century, primarily driven by anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. While fossil fuel extraction, energy generation, deforestation, and agricultural practices are widely recognized as primary drivers, the systemic impact of plastic manufacturing, consumption, and disposal on global climate dynamics has increasingly come under geographic scrutiny. This paper synthesizes the environmental lifecycle of plastics—from fossil fuel-based petrochemical extraction to the atmospheric and oceanic degradation of single-use polymers. Incorporating key empirical metrics, process flow diagrams, carbon budget charts, and comparative statistical figures, we evaluate how plastic production exacerbates GHG emissions, examine ecosystem disruptions caused by ocean microplastics on biological carbon sinks, and critique current policy interventions including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the circular economy framework.
