📄 Abstract(原文)

Climate change is a critical issue that calls for a detailed evaluation of carbon emissions in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. These industries contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases due to their high consumption of energy and generation of waste. This chapter presents low-carbon emission models specific to various industries with the vision of establishing green and sustainable environments. The models give a lot of emphasis to energy efficiency, incorporating renewable energy, minimization of waste, and taking part in sustainable practices. In the matter of increased hospital efficiency, the authors recommend optimizing heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems, replacing traditional lighting with energy-efficient lighting, using renewable energy resources, and installing cogeneration systems. Installing waste management programs, including recycling and proper medical waste disposal, is also recommended. The use of green chemistry principles and life cycle assessment techniques, combined with continuous manufacturing and energy-efficient equipment, will be advantageous for the pharmaceutical industry. Adoption of these measures will automatically reduce carbon emissions, fight the burgeoning problem of climate change, and ensure a sustainable future. Collaboration among government officials, pharma industry stakeholders, and researchers is essential for the development of these models.
