<title>Abstract</title> <p>The demand for energy in both human and industrial activities continues to increase daily, resulting in the depletion of existing resources. This situation necessitates a greater reliance on renewable energy sources, which are more sustainable and environmentally friendly compared to conventional energy resources. Considering Türkiye's high solar energy potential, investments in this field can significantly contribute to the sustainable management of resource scarcity and the reduction of external energy dependence. Criteria used for the site selection of solar power plants are generally based on efficiency. However, incorporating environmental factors alongside efficiency is crucial for the sustainability of ecological systems. This study aims to identify suitable locations for solar power plants in Adana, a province of Türkiye with a high solar energy potential. Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), alternative sites for solar power plant installations were evaluated. Various analyses were conducted by considering relevant legislation, literature data, and expert opinions. This study adopts a methodology in which both efficiency and environmental factors are integrated into the decision-making processes for solar power plant site selection. In this context, the study serves as a potential reference for further evaluations of renewable energy sources. Moreover, by identifying suitable locations, it aims to highlight Adana’s solar energy potential, promote the use of solar energy, and support the efficient management of energy resources.</p>
