English

Using DOLS on Swedish data (2000–2025), this study links renewable energy consumption (green economy proxy) to female labor force participation (social sustainability proxy). Renewables rose from 39.8% to 56.88% and female participation from 58.10% to 61.54%, with a significant positive coefficient (0.130, p=0.00). It argues the green transition can advance both environmental and social sustainability.

In the global GX context

Amid ISSB/CSRD emphasis on social and workforce disclosure alongside climate, this paper offers empirical evidence that decarbonization and social outcomes (female participation) can co-move, supporting integrated ESG narratives for transition finance and just-transition debates.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Sweden is considered a leading example of the transition to a green economy through its expansion of renewable energy, improved energy efficiency, reduced emissions, and support for clean technology and innovation. This study examines the impact of the green economy on the social dimension of sustainable development in Sweden during 2000–2025, focusing on renewable energy consumption as an indicator of the green economy and female labor force participation as an indicator of the social dimension. The study uses a descriptive-analytical approach and appropriate statistical methods. The results show that renewable energy consumption increased from 39.8% in 2000 to 56.88% in 2025, while female labor force participation increased from 58.10% to 61.54%. The Phillips-Perron test indicated that both variables became stationary after first differencing. The DOLS model revealed a statistically significant positive relationship between renewable energy consumption and female labor force participation, with a coefficient of 0.130 and a p-value of 0.00. The findings suggest that the green transition can contribute not only to environmental sustainability but also to women's economic participation. The study recommends increasing investment in green sectors, developing skills for green jobs, and expanding women's participation in green economic activities.
