📄 Abstract(原文)

Abstract Africa holds significant yet largely untapped geothermal resources capable of providing reliable, low carbon baseload power. This study aims to identify strategic pathways for accelerating geothermal energy development across the continent, focusing on technical, financial, and policy interventions that can enhance project viability. The scope encompasses resource assessment, project implementation strategies, and enabling governance frameworks, emphasizing how geothermal energy can support national energy plans, climate commitments, and socio-economic development in Africa. A comprehensive review and analysis of existing geothermal projects, resource assessments, and policy frameworks across Africa was conducted. The study evaluates technical strategies such as advanced exploration methods, drilling optimization, and phased project development to minimize subsurface and financial risks. Financial mechanisms including public private partnerships, risk mitigation instruments, and innovative financing models were assessed for their effectiveness in mobilizing investment. Policy and regulatory frameworks were examined to determine how government incentives, streamlined permitting processes, and regional collaboration initiatives can improve project bankability. The methodology integrates technical, financial, and governance considerations to identify actionable pathways for scaling geothermal energy deployment and building local capacity, while addressing barriers to sustainable energy transition across diverse African contexts.Findings reveal that combining advanced exploration technologies, phased project development, and supportive policy environments significantly reduces technical and financial risks, increasing the likelihood of successful geothermal project implementation. Projects that incorporate innovative financing mechanisms and public private partnerships demonstrate improved investment attractiveness and accelerated timelines. Regional collaboration and knowledge-sharing initiatives were observed to enhance local technical capacity and create economies of scale, further facilitating deployment. Geothermal energy, when aligned with national energy strategies and climate objectives, contributes to energy security, grid stability, and expanded electricity access in underserved regions. It also provides a reliable, low carbon alternative to fossil based baseload power, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The study concludes that strategically coordinated technical, financial, and governance interventions can unlock Africa's geothermal potential, positioning it as a cornerstone of a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable energy system, supporting both economic growth and climate commitments. This study presents an integrated framework combining technology, policy, and finance to accelerate geothermal deployment in Africa, highlighting actionable strategies for stakeholders. Unlike previous studies, it emphasizes the synergy between phased technical approaches, enabling governance, and innovative financing to de-risk projects. The findings offer a roadmap for investors, policymakers, and development partners seeking to leverage geothermal energy as a sustainable, low-carbon foundation for Africa's energy transition.
