📄 Abstract(原文)
Urbanization is a major contributor to the global carbon footprint, with the building sector alone responsible for a significant share of emissions. In developing countries like India, the residential sector ranks just behind industry in carbon emissions. This paper focuses on the role of individual households in addressing this issue by adopting simple, affordable, and practical strategies to reduce emissions. It discusses common lifestyle-based activities, such as water and electricity usage, transportation, and daily household practices, and introduces ways to modify them to lower carbon output. Techniques like grey water reuse, use of passive design, roof gardens, and the adoption of solar energy are also explored. The paper emphasizes that change at the household level, though small in scale, can collectively make a meaningful difference. These solutions aim to be cost-effective, easy to implement, and suitable for everyday homes, promoting a shift toward sustainable living from the ground up.
