📄 Abstract(原文)

We analyze the interaction between government subsidies and low-carbon cold chain operations considering consumers' multifaceted preferences (including freshness preference, low-carbon preference, and goodwill preference) for perishable products. Using a differential game, we model the dynamic decisions of a supplier (investing in freshness and carbon abatement), a retailer (building goodwill), and a government (setting subsidy policies). We characterize the equilibrium strategies and performance of the stakeholders, and study how they are affected by the variations of key parameters. Our results demonstrate that strong consumer preference for low-carbon perishable products creates a powerful market-based incentive for green investment. This allows the government to strategically reduce subsidy rates for both carbon abatement and freshness preservation, suggesting that promoting consumer environmental awareness can be a more efficient policy lever than direct financial support alone. We propose a Retailer-Supplier Bilateral Cost-Sharing Scheme to coordinate the cold chain and show that the contract can increase the freshness level while reduce carbon emission for products, boost sales, improve the economic and environmental benefits, and reduce the government's expenditures when freshness preference coefficient is sufficiently high. A robust sensitivity analysis identifies consumer-centric factors (price sensitivity, low-carbon preference, and goodwill preference) as the primary drivers of cold chain performance. Our findings provide a clear rationale for policymakers to prioritize demand-shaping initiatives to drive sustainable supply chain operations.
