English
Using 2000-2023 panel data for ASEAN-5 (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam), this study finds energy security, green finance, and communication technology adoption significantly raise food production, while climate change reduces it. FGLS, Driscoll-Kraay, and quantile regressions support these results. It recommends climate-related credit schemes for farmers to boost sustainable food output.

In the global GX context
For global GX scholarship, this adds emerging-market empirical evidence linking green finance and energy security to food security under climate stress, relevant to transition finance debates and the climate-food nexus in ISSB/CSRD-adjacent supply-chain risk discussions.

📄 Abstract(原文)
ABSTRACT Climate change has become a major global concern and poses a significant threat to food security. To address this challenge, this study investigates the energy‐green finance‐food security nexus under environmental degradation and assesses how progress on SDG‐7 (Energy) and SDG‐13 (Climate) shapes SDG‐2 (Zero Hunger) in the ASEAN‐5 economies (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam) during 2000 to 2023. This study employs several panel data econometric approaches, including Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS) and Driscoll‐Kraay standard errors regression for long‐run analysis, together with quantile regression to examine the relationships across different quantiles. The long‐run estimates indicate that energy security, green finance, and the adoption of communication technologies significantly increase food production across the ASEAN economies. In contrast, climate change has a significant negative effect on food production. The MMQR results confirmed these findings. The findings support SDGs, particularly SDG‐2, by promoting sustainable food production and encouraging the adoption of green energy technologies to reduce emissions from agricultural practices. Furthermore, the study suggests that the banking sector should introduce climate‐related credit schemes that provide affordable financing to farmers, enabling them to adopt new technologies, address climate change challenges, and improve food productivity.
