English

This study examines how Ukraine's agribusiness must transform under European integration and climate-neutrality policy. It analyzes the new climate law (No. 3991-IX) and EU CBAM impacts, arguing ESG criteria serve as a practical passport to Green Deal compliance and green finance. It presents a mechanism for monetizing sustainable farming via carbon certificate issuance and trading.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

This paper illustrates how a non-EU country aligns agribusiness with the European Green Deal and CBAM, offering a case study for global disclosure scholarship on carbon border adjustment and ESG-driven green finance in emerging economies.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Global climate change and European integration require the fundamental transformation of Ukraine's agricultural sector toward climate neutrality and low-carbon development. Following the adoption of the Law of Ukraine «On the Basic Principles of State Climate Policy» No. 3991-IX, agribusiness faces the necessity of adapting to tight environmental standards, risks of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and requirements of international investors. The objective of the study is to substantiate the transformation processes within Ukraine's agribusiness under conditions of European integration through the synergy of state climate policy and the ESG concept to attract international investment for «green» post-war recovery. The study employs methods of systemic, comparative, and regulatory analysis to examine climate legislation, alongside synthesis and structural-functional methods to categorize key stakeholders and analyze market-based decarbonization tools. Four key dimensions of agricultural changes driven by new legislation were identified: cross-sectoral integration of climate goals, regulatory formalization of circular economy and nature-based solutions, implementation of emissions monitoring and reporting, and adaptation to climate risks. The study establishes that ESG criteria serve as a practical passport for corporate compliance with the European Green Deal and accessing green finance. The scientific novelty lies in the comprehensive conceptualization of the synergistic interaction between national climate legislation and ESG benchmarks as an integrated framework for the low-carbon transition of agribusiness. The practical significance is demonstrated through the mechanism of monetizing sustainable farming practices via the Agricultural Climate Change Adaptation Program, allowing producers to generate additional revenue by issuing and trading carbon certificates. The article provides the relevant calculations.
