In the global GX context
Globally, blue carbon is emerging as a nature-based solution within carbon markets, aligning with frameworks like the Paris Agreement and voluntary carbon markets. This chapter contributes to the discourse on integrating coastal ecosystems into climate mitigation strategies, offering insights for policymakers and market participants on governance and equity.

📄 Abstract(原文)
The effects of climate change are getting worse, increasing interest in blue carbon habitats such as seagrass beds and mangroves. These systems offer promise for local livelihoods, coastal preservation, and carbon storage. The chapter, “Blue Carbon and Climate Mitigation: Mangroves, Seagrasses, and Carbon Markets,” explores how nature protection and economic involvement intersect in the blue economy. It focuses on policies that drive real change and management systems that reduce climate risks and promote lasting growth. The study uses two case studies one from India and another from a global setting to review policies, carbon credit systems, and community-led protection. It highlights the need for strong methods to assess blue carbon resources, fair participation in carbon trading, and inclusion of local knowledge. The chapter also notes challenges in aligning policies, tracking progress, and accessing funds, while showing how protecting mangroves and seagrasses can drive inclusive climate action and sustainable growth.
