ABSTRACT Singapore is accelerating its energy transition by pursuing large‐scale cross‐border renewable power import and regional grid interconnection. Targeting up to 6 GW of low‐carbon power import by 2035—equivalent to nearly half of its projected electricity demand—Singapore is poised to transform from a gas‐dominated urban power system into a multi‐region and remote renewable energy‐fed urban power grid. This transition represents a practical realization of the ‘Energy Internet’ paradigm in the Asia‐Pacific region. This letter provides a systematic introduction and discussion of the technical impacts and emerging challenges associated with Singapore's future interconnected power grid, spanning stability analysis, operational security, risk‐based dispatch and cross‐border market design. Several prospective research directions and potential research roadmaps are envisioned to support the secure, resilient and economically efficient evolution of Singapore‐centric regional power interconnection.
