English

SiteFootprint estimates operational carbon emissions and on-site water use of AI training at any location, computing hourly data-centre cooling from real weather and combining it with grid carbon intensity, with 95% uncertainty ranges and paired location comparisons. The cooling model was calibrated on Google campus PUE (MAE 0.010 on unseen campuses) and the energy model reproduces Meta's disclosed Llama 3.1 405B training hours within 5%. Released as a Python package, CLI and web app with citable exports.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

As AI compute scales, data-centre electricity and water use are becoming material under CSRD/ISSB Scope 2 and water-risk disclosure, and for investor climate-risk assessment. SiteFootprint offers a transparent, location-resolved method to quantify and compare these impacts, supporting siting and procurement decisions and emerging AI-specific disclosure expectations.

📄 Abstract(原文)

SiteFootprint estimates the operational carbon emissions and on-site water use of training an AI model at any location. It computes data-centre cooling hour by hour from real weather, combines it with annual grid carbon intensity, and reports results with 95% uncertainty ranges and paired comparisons between locations. The cooling model was calibrated on published Google campus PUE and tested on unseen campuses (mean absolute error 0.010), and the energy model reproduces Meta's disclosed Llama 3.1 405B training hours to within 5%. Available as a Python package, a command-line tool and a web app, with citable exports.
