📄 Abstract（原文）
With the continuously growing atmospheric CO 2 emissions that cause planetary warming; and threaten human communities and their economic activities, it is imperative that we study and implement some of the known and technologically feasible methods to reduce CO 2 emissions and mitigate the Global Climate Change (GCC). This chapter offers a succinct and critical survey on the key methods that have been proposed for the control and eventual reduction of the anthropogenic CO 2 emissions. Emphasis is given to energy efficiency, use of nuclear energy, and higher use of renewable energy – in particular wind and solar energy that are available everywhere on the planet – strategies that have been advocated in all the pathways and roadmaps to reduce CO 2 emissions. Detailed data on the conditions and requirements to decarbonize at three levels, a single home, a city, and an entire grid are also presented. The Chapter concludes with the effects electric vehicles may have on decarbonization efforts and the roadmaps presented by the agencies of the United Nations.
