This conceptual paper interrogates the notion of 'net zero' through a climate justice lens. It asks who defines and achieves net zero, and on what equity principles, highlighting fairness issues in the allocation of emission reductions versus offsets. Its contribution lies in framing the justice implications embedded in corporate and national net-zero targets.
