English

This study compares nano-SiO₂, nano-TiO₂, and MWCNTs in concrete under identical salt-frost exposure, integrating durability tests, microstructure analysis, and manufacturing-stage CO₂ assessment. Nano-SiO₂ performed best: the optimal mix cut water absorption by 31.9%, chloride diffusion by 57.0%, and manufacturing CO₂ by 12.4%. It offers an evidence-based framework for low-carbon, durable concrete in cold regions.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Deicing salts and freeze–thaw cycles pose a critical challenge for cold-region concrete infrastructure, where high-strength designs often conflict with low-carbon goals. Nanofillers offer microstructural densification at reduced cement contents, but a lack of side-by-side comparisons hinders their selection. This study evaluates nano-SiO₂ (NS), nano-TiO₂ (NT), and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) under identical salt-frost exposure, integrating durability testing, microstructural characterization, and manufacturing-stage CO₂ assessment. The results reveal distinct mechanisms: NS provides pozzolanic densification plus physical filling; NT offers nucleation-driven refinement; MWCNTs deliver crack-bridging. Their effectiveness follows: NS > NT > MWCNTs. The optimal NS15 (1.5% NS) reduces 28-day water absorption by 31.9%, chloride diffusion by 57.0%, and suppresses 300-cycle porosity growth by 37.1%, while achieving a chloride migration coefficient comparable to high-strength concrete and cutting manufacturing-stage CO₂ emissions by 12.4%. This work provides an evidence-based framework for low-carbon durable concrete design in cold regions.
