📄 Abstract(原文)

This chapter examines Malaysia&s;s carbon market within the broader Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) climate agenda, emphasising both national progress and regional implications. Using empirical analysis of industrial CO 2 emissions and energy-related drivers, it identifies critical policy levers for decarbonisation, notably carbon pricing, market-based instruments, and robust measuring, reporting, and verification systems. Malaysia&s;s Voluntary Carbon Market and the Bursa Carbon Exchange are assessed as pivotal platforms for mobilising finance, enabling credit pooling, and advancing technology-driven transparency. Beyond the national context, the chapter highlights opportunities and challenges in aligning diverse ASEAN initiatives, focusing on institutional harmonisation, market credibility, and cost-effective emissions reduction. The analysis provides actionable insights for shaping a unified and equitable ASEAN carbon market, positioning Malaysia as a regional leader in carbon finance and sustainable development.
