📄 Abstract(原文)

Sri Lanka possesses substantial renewable energy potential, yet integration into the national energy mix remains uneven. This study investigates the factors shaping renewable energy practices and the barriers to wider adoption using a mixed-methods design. The quantitative phase surveyed energy consumers across Sri Lanka (n = 235 valid responses) and analyzed relationships among technological, economic, societal, and environmental factors and renewable energy practices. Assumptions of normality were met, and multiple regression explained 51.5% of the variance in practices (adjusted R 2 = 0.506). All four predictors were positive and significant (p < .001), with technology exerting the strongest standardized effect, followed by environment, economy, and society. Correlations were moderate for technology (r = .45), economy (r = .35), and society (r = .40), and weaker for environment (r = .25). The qualitative phase, based on purposive interviews with sector stakeholders, identified four interlocking challenge domains: (i) financial and investment constraints (including forex pressures and high taxes), (ii) technical and infrastructure gaps (grid compatibility, storage deficits), (iii) societal and spatial frictions (land acquisition, community acceptance), and (iv) workforce and policy shortcomings (skills gaps, regulatory rigidity). Triangulating both strands, the study concludes that technological readiness is the primary lever for adoption, but durable progress requires concurrent reforms in financing, grid modernization, community engagement, and skills development, under a coherent policy framework. The paper outlines actionable opportunities including, rooftop solar, storage and hybrid systems, transparent Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), vocational upskilling, and regulatory streamlining, to accelerate a resilient, inclusive, and low-carbon energy transition in Sri Lanka.
