This repository contains the replication package for the paper “Bridging or Blocking? Dynamic Co-movement between Plug-in Hybrid and Battery Electric Passenger-Car Registrations in Italy” . The archive includes the monthly dataset used in the empirical analysis, covering Italy from January 2018 to March 2026 , together with supporting replication materials. The dataset combines monthly BEV and PHEV passenger-car registrations, total passenger-car registrations, public charging infrastructure, policy-support variables, incentive waiting-phase indicators, running-cost variables, and additional controls used in robustness analysis. The package includes: the Excel dataset used in the paper; a README file documenting scope, variables, sample coverage and replication instructions; a data dictionary; monthly policy-coding files for the policy-support index and waiting-phase dummy; essential Python scripts to validate the dataset, reproduce descriptive statistics, generate the main descriptive figures, and estimate the baseline ECM specification; example outputs generated from the scripts. The policy-support index is a semi-quantitative regime-intensity control. It ranks the effective strength and usability of national support across legally defined regimes and should not be interpreted as a euro-for-euro subsidy measure or as a standalone causal policy-treatment variable. The waiting-phase dummy identifies months in which incentives were formally announced but not fully usable, temporarily exhausted, or subject to implementation delays. Preliminary observations and variables are explicitly flagged in the dataset. In particular, 2025-onward total-car-stock and BEV-stock estimates are flagged because final ACI parco auto data were pending at the time of the dataset freeze, and 2025-onward EEA-based running-cost and BEV cost-advantage variables are flagged because final EEA 2025 new-car efficiency and emissions parameters had not yet been published. This version aligns the replication package with the manuscript title and with the dataset used to produce the tables, figures and robustness checks reported in the paper and Supplementary Material.
