Assesses green hydrogen as a fuel substitute in a 4,400 t/day cement plant across 50–100% substitution scenarios. Eliminating coal combustion emissions cuts total CO2 by 43% while calcination emissions persist. Techno-economic analysis finds abatement costs of ~USD 120–300/tCO2 driven by electricity and electrolyzer costs, with higher water and land needs; hydrogen is promising especially combined with CCUS.

📄 Abstract(原文)
To reduce CO 2 emissions, this study assesses the use of green hydrogen as a fuel substitute in a cement factory with a daily output capacity of 4400 tonnes. Hydrogen consumption, thermal energy replacement, and possible emission reductions were evaluated by analyzing scenarios with 50–100% hydrogen substitution. According to the findings, total CO 2 emissions can be reduced by 43% when coal combustion emissions are eliminated, and calcination emissions remain unchanged. While theoretically possible, hydrogen-based cement manufacturing is currently expensive, with CO 2 abatement costs of about USD 120-300 per tonne of CO 2 , primarily due to electricity and electrolyzer costs, according to a techno-economic study. Significant environmental gains are accompanied by higher water and land requirements, according to sustainability studies. The research indicates that green hydrogen is a promising option for decarbonizing cement, particularly when paired with CCUS and other low-carbon technologies.
