📄 Abstract(原文)

The thesis examines how the case company can support its suppliers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Companies are facing a growing demand for accurate emission data due to regulations and customer expectations. It increases the need for clearer supplier guidance. The case company has achieved successful emission reductions in its own operations. Now it aims to extend this progress to its supplier network. The objective of the thesis is to determine what kind of support, processes, and reduction strategies help suppliers to lower their Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. The thesis is conducted as a qualitative study for the focal division of a global industrial company. It consists of a theoretical review, an empirical section, and a discussion chapter. The theoretical review covers supplier engagement, common emission sources, and the measurement of emissions according to accomplished framework. It examines reduction activities, collaborative initiatives, and the use of maturity models to categorize suppliers based on their environmental maturity. The empirical data is collected through expert interviews and analyzed with data driven coding and thematic analysis. The empirical findings address supplier capabilities and contextual constraints. It discusses current motivators, inconsistencies in emission measurement and reporting, as well as the role of communication in supplier engagement. As a result, the thesis develops a maturity-based support model that connects supplier capabilities with tailored reduction strategies.
