📄 Abstract(原文)

In the contemporary global economy, green finance has emerged as a transformative instrument that aligns financial systems with environmental and social responsibility. It represents a strategic approach to funding economic growth while simultaneously addressing climate challenges and fostering sustainability. The study examines the scope, evolution, and authenticity of green finance in India, evaluating whether it serves as a genuine vehicle for sustainable development or merely a corporate branding mechanism. Green financial instruments—such as green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and ESG investments—play a crucial role in mobilizing capital toward environmentally beneficial projects. In India, the expansion of green finance has been propelled by regulatory frameworks, government initiatives, and the active involvement of professional institutions such as the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). ICSI’s initiatives, including its Sustainable Development and Governance Programs, ESG and BRSR guidance frameworks, and Green Office initiatives, have significantly contributed to embedding sustainability principles within corporate governance and financial decision-making. This study concludes that while challenges such as inadequate awareness, limited verification mechanisms, and the risk of green washing persist, green finance—when supported by strong institutional frameworks and ethical governance—holds immense potential to drive India’s transition toward a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy. The findings reinforce that empowering sustainable governance through green finance is not merely a policy choice, but a national imperative for achieving long-term economic and ecological harmony. This study contributes to the ongoing policy discourse by providing an institutional framework that integrates ethical governance with innovative financial mechanisms, offering a roadmap for authentic and scalable green finance in India.
