English

This study examines a shift from conventional post-treatment to integrated full-space source control of indoor formaldehyde. Evaluating MDI-based formaldehyde-free adhesives, wood-bamboo construction, straw-based panels, and integrated finished-delivery systems, spatial loading tests under high temperature, humidity, and material load kept emissions within national standards. It offers practical guidance for combining low-carbon building materials with healthier residential environments.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

Globally, this speaks to embodied-carbon reduction in buildings and healthy-materials procurement, complementing disclosure frameworks like CSRD and green-building certification. It adds empirical evidence on source-control technologies that can inform Scope 3 building-material accounting and indoor environmental quality standards.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Purpose: This study examines the development of indoor formaldehyde control technologies and explores sustainable source-control strategies for healthier residential environments. It focuses on the transition from conventional treatment methods to integrated full-space formaldehyde control systems. Research design, data and methodology: The study combines a review of recent research with spatial loading test data and representative practices from the formaldehyde-free wood-based panel industry. It evaluates MDI-based formaldehyde-free adhesives, wood–bamboo construction technologies, straw-based panels, and integrated finished-delivery systems. Spatial loading tests are conducted under high temperature, high humidity, and high material-load conditions. Results: The findings show that combining MDI-based formaldehyde-free adhesives, straw-based materials, and integrated delivery systems enable effective full-space source control. Emissions remained within applicable national standards even under demanding environmental conditions. Conclusions: Full-space source control is an effective approach to reducing indoor formaldehyde emissions and supporting healthier, more sustainable residential environments.
