English

Using 23-year panel data from 143 developing countries, this study examines the impact of renewable energy and green finance on reducing transport CO2 emissions. Renewable energy effectively reduces emissions, but income growth increases vehicle ownership. Emissions follow an inverted-U pattern, and infrastructure lock-in underscores the need for long-term sustainable transport investment.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Due to urbanization, the increase in income, and the expanding infrastructure within cities are all contributing to an increase in CO2 emissions from transportation. This research looks at 23 years of data on the emission levels of 143 developing countries for the purpose of assessing whether renewable energy sources and green financing can reduce transportation emissions. The results of our analysis indicate that renewable energy does have a positive impact on reducing emissions, but an increase in income will cause an increase in the number of vehicles being used. Pollution is expected to follow an inverted-U pattern, and infrastructure 'locked' into the emission-producing behavior of vehicles will continue to produce emissions, indicating that sustainable transportation investment must be made for the long-term.
