India’s energy sector is going through a massive transformation. While conventional fossil fuels havetraditionally built and powered the country's grid, renewable energy has grown so quickly that it nowcommands a majority of the nation's installed capacity. This paper seeks to find out an assessment as regardsconventional and renewable energy set-up of India. India's energy matrix is undergoing one of the mostmassive structural shifts in the world. As the world's third-largest consumer of electricity, the country balancesthe massive energy demands of a growing economy with ambitious climate goals. The utilization, creation anddelivery are familiar. The energy landscape is defined by a striking paradox, while more than half of India’sinstalled capacity is now clean; the majority of its actual power generation still relies on conventional fossilfuels. Coal and mineral oil-based power plants contribute heavily to greenhouse gases emission. Setting up ofnew power plants is certainly reliant on introduce of highly volatile fossil fuels. Thus, it is essential to takeattempt the energy catastrophe through sensible consumption of profuse the renewable energy resources, such as solar energy, wind energy, biomass energy, hydro-power, bio-energy, geothermal energy and Ocean energy.Over the past three decades, India has witnessed an intense surge in research, development, production, anddemonstration activities within the renewable energy sector. Consequently, a diverse array of greentechnologies has been successfully deployed across various industries. This paper reviews the current status,key achievements, and future prospects of renewable energy in the country. Additionally, it evaluates existingenergy policies aimed at overcoming current bottlenecks and accelerating the adoption of sustainable energyfor the future.
