📄 Abstract(原文)

SUMMARY & CONCLUSIONSThe transition towards a circular economy necessitates robust methodologies for assessing the reliability and durability of products, alongside strategies for lifetime extension. This paper critiques existing standards and literature, focusing on the integration of reliability and durability assessments with circular economy principles. We review the EN45552 standard [1], Sustainability-15, 14386 [2] and other key publications, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses in addressing the needs of a circular economy.our analysis reveals that while current standards provide comprehensive frameworks and advanced methodologies, they often suffer from lack of clarity and uniformity, posing challenges in practical implementation. Furthermore, we critique the approach of durability indexing, which, despite offering a structured way to assess product longevity, often relies on subjective measures and lacks specificity. This can lead to inconsistencies and misinterpretations in evaluating product durability. We emphasize the need for more objective and quantifiable metrics to ensure accurate assessments. We propose a set of specific, measurable, and testable metrics for lifetime extension, derived from reliability engineering methods. These metrics include Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean-Time-To-Failure (MTTF), and cumulative failure rates, which are crucial for evaluating the effectiveness of maintenance and upgrade strategies. Additionally, we discuss the importance of integrating circular economy principles into product design, emphasizing the need for durable, reusable, and repairable products. Our recommendations aim to bridge the gap between theoretical frameworks and practical applications, providing a pathway for industries to enhance sustainability through improved reliability and durability assessments.
