📄 Abstract(原文)
This study examined effective strategies for mitigating climate change in Nigeria through renewable energy to achieve sustainable development. The increasing prevalence of environmental issues, such as flooding, desertification, pollution, and poor electricity supply, has raised concerns about climate change in the country. Utilizing a descriptive research design, the study gathered secondary data from reputable national and international sources covering the years 2018 to 2024, which were analyzed through content analysis. The findings revealed a significant connection between the adoption of renewable energy and climate change mitigation in Nigeria. Increased use of renewable energy can reduce carbon emissions and environmental pollution while improving electricity access, particularly in rural areas. The study emphasized the crucial role of government policies and institutional frameworks in promoting renewable energy development. It highlighted that climate-related disasters, like flooding, negatively impact socio-economic development, leading to economic losses and population displacement. In conclusion, renewable energy presents a viable solution to Nigeria’s climate change challenges. The study calls for greater investment in renewable energy infrastructure, effective climate policy implementation, public awareness campaigns, and stronger public-private partnerships, recommending that the Nigerian government prioritize the transition to renewable energy for environmental sustainability and long-term socio-economic development.
