English
Keralam, India, presents a science-led policy blueprint combining IUCN Red List of Ecosystems assessment with ecosystem-based adaptation to scale landscape-level protection. It equips local Panchayats and state planners with spatial intelligence to reinforce natural flood barriers, stabilize landslide-prone slopes, and streamline disaster risk reduction. Through updated Local Biodiversity Action Plans, it aims to convert high-integrity ecosystem protection into revenue streams from blue carbon, carbon credits, and non-timber forest produce.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
Adds a subnational, Global-South case to the growing TNFD/NbS disclosure conversation, showing how ecosystem risk assessment can be operationalized into local planning and carbon/blue-carbon revenue. Relevant to global debates on biodiversity credits, nature-based adaptation finance, and ISSB/TNFD-aligned nature disclosure.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Keralam is globally recognized as a unique biodiversity hotspot, whose rich forests, rivers, wetlands, and coasts form the very foundation of our public safety, water security, and rural economy. To protect our communities from rising climate risks like extreme floods, landslides, and dry-season droughts, traditional species-level conservation must now evolve into proactive, landscape-wide ecosystem protection. This flagship initiative establishes India’s first scientific baseline for Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA), providing local Panchayats and state planners with exact spatial intelligence to strengthen natural flood barriers, stabilize landslide-prone slopes, and streamline disaster risk reduction (DRR). By safeguarding natural life-support systems, the framework directly advances Keralam’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while unlocking new economic horizons for local citizens. Through updated Local Biodiversity Action Plans (LBSAPs), local Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) and indigenous forest-dwelling communities will be empowered to implement NbS based development, secure sustainable livelihoods—converting high-integrity ecosystem protection into viable revenue streams from blue carbon, blue economy, eco-restoration incentives, carbon credits, and non-timber forest produce (NTFP) trade.
