This chapter examines the approach of African States to energy transition, discussing the policies and laws they put in place for the promotion of transition. It examines the preparedness for energy transition at the regional level, looking at the relevant African Union (AU) Frameworks that support energy transition. The chapter identified the laws and policies of selected African countries: Nigeria, Angola, Gabon, Algeria, Morocco and Libya. It looks at the nature of their responses and the frameworks they have employed for the deployment of sustainable energy, detailing how they comply with their international requirements for an energy transition through their respective nationally determined commitments (NDCs).
