English

This paper proposes a phased decarbonization pathway centered on hydrogen, acknowledging continued fossil-fuel reliance. Stage one replaces natural gas or coal in thermal plants with hydrogen from methane pyrolysis; later stages shift to green hydrogen via green methanol as carrier, produced from seawater electrolysis powered by wind. It uniquely links quantitative plant productivity and CO2 storage capacity to thermal-plant hydrogen demand and emission dynamics.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Despite the rapid growth of renewable energy, the largest contribution to greenhouse gas emissions comes from traditional energy, which continues to rely on natural gas, coal, and petroleum fuels. Given the current level of global energy consumption, it is impossible to abandon the predominant use of fossil fuels in the near future. Based on this, it is proposed to outline the competitive advantages of a phased energy decarbonization strategy through the development of methods for producing and using hydrogen. The paper demonstrates that this task can be accomplished using existing technologies. In the first stage, to reduce the primary carbon source, it is proposed to replace natural gas or coal in steam turbine thermal power plants with hydrogen produced from natural gas through pyrolysis. In subsequent stages, it is proposed to transition to the use of green hydrogen, produced from green methanol as a carrier and storage medium. Initially, it is advisable to produce green methanol from seawater near existing thermal power plants, whose emissions capture carbon dioxide. A stable energy source for seawater electrolysis is possible by using the stored hydrogen in green methanol in conjunction with onshore (and/or offshore) wind farms. Unlike existing studies on energy decarbonization, this article attempts to link quantitative data on the productivity of plants producing specific chemical components with the hydrogen demand of the main source of carbon dioxide emissions – thermal power plants as well as carbon dioxide storage capacity with the dynamics of its emissions.
