English

This paper proposes a new multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) model integrating QFD, BWM, and TOPSIS to incorporate sustainability into supply chain management under carbon trading in the UAE. The hybrid framework accounts for complex interconnections and prioritizes actions in a resource-constrained regional environment. Findings highlight that decarbonizing transportation and adopting dynamic flexible supply chain models are essential for UAE industries to achieve sustainability goals.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

This paper adds to the global literature on sustainable supply chain management under carbon pricing, offering a hybrid MCDM approach applicable to regions with resource constraints. It demonstrates how carbon trading can drive supply chain decarbonization, relevant for countries implementing emissions trading systems.

The paper demonstrates a hybrid MCDM framework (QFD, BWM, TOPSIS) for prioritizing sustainability actions in supply chains under carbon trading, which can be applied or extended in other contexts.

Companies can use the framework to identify key decarbonization levers in their supply chains, especially transportation, and align with carbon trading requirements.

📄 Abstract(原文)

ABSTRACT Sustainable supply chain management is a vital area of study, especially in regions facing economic and environmental challenges. This has created a research gap in effectively addressing the unique factors and obstacles in these areas. Further research is essential, as it can lead to the development of comprehensive frameworks that enhance sustainability in the supply chain. The current paper explores integrating sustainability practices with supply chain management within the context of carbon trading in the UAE, utilizing a new multicriteria decision‐making (MCDM) model, including Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Best–Worst Method (BWM), and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The hybrid framework accounts for complex interconnections and prioritizes actions in a dynamic, resource‐constrained regional environment. This approach aligns with the socioeconomic and environmental issues prevalent in the UAE. The findings highlight that the application of Decarbonizing Transportation and Dynamic, Flexible Supply Chain Models is essential for UAE industries to achieve sustainability goals.
