English

A lifecycle carbon emission model compares solid-waste-based porcelain aggregates with clay-based aggregates in China. Emissions reach 313.70 and 291.19 kg/t respectively, with production dominating over 84%. Sensitivity and scenario analyses identify electric trucks, higher industrial waste blending, and grid optimization as key reduction levers.

In the global GX context

Adds to the growing body of construction-materials LCA research relevant to Scope 3 Category 1 accounting and circular-economy disclosure under ISSB/CSRD. The scenario levers (electrification, waste blending, grid decarbonization) mirror global decarbonization pathways for heavy materials.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Low-carbon resource recovery technologies for solid waste are one of the key pathways for attaining China’s carbon neutrality agenda. A lifecycle carbon emission assessment model for aggregates was constructed for comparative analysis, and sensitivity and scenario analyses were conducted to identify key factors influencing carbon reduction. Results show that the lifecycle carbon emissions of clay-based aggregates and solid-waste-based porcelain aggregates are 313.70 and 291.19 kg/t, respectively, with the production stage contributing the largest proportions (84.59% and 85.08%,respectively). The carbon emission factors of transportation and raw material consumption are the main factors influencing the lifecycle carbon emissions of aggregates. In the future, the solid-waste-based porcelain aggregate industry can achieve carbon reduction through the following three measures: replacing diesel heavy trucks with electric heavy trucks, increasing the blending ratio of industrial solid wastes such as red mud, and optimizing the grid power. These integrated solutions provide a systematic framework for carbon reduction in the recycled aggregate industry while advancing circular economy objectives.
