English
Nigeria's rapid AI adoption in fintech, healthtech and digital services is straining a grid still 62% fossil-fueled. Lagos data centers already draw ~200MW, growing ~30% annually, against 427,000MW of solar potential. The paper argues green data centers, circular-economy strategies and alignment with NREAP's 30% renewables-by-2030 target are essential, recommending collaboration among tech firms, government and ECOWAS plus targeted renewable investment.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
This adds a Global South perspective to the AI-energy nexus, complementing ISSB/TCFD disclosure debates by linking data-center electricity demand to national renewable targets. It is relevant to transition-finance discussions on financing green digital infrastructure in emerging markets.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Background: Nigeria’s rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence in Fintech, Healthtech, and Digital Services is driving Energy demand that strains fragile infrastructure. With 62% of electricity still generated from fossil fuels as of 2023, AI growth risks increasing Carbon Emissions and Environmental Degradation. Objective: This paper explores Sustainable Pathways for Nigeria’s AI sector to meet rising Energy demand while reducing Environmental Impact and advancing Climate Resilience. Key Findings: Lagos data centers already consume ~200MW, projected to grow 30% annually. Nigeria holds 427,000MW Solar potential. Green data centers and Circular Economy Strategies can improve efficiency. Policy alignment with NREAP 30% renewables by 2030 is critical. Conclusion & Recommendations: Sustainable AI growth in Nigeria depends on integrating Renewables and Green technologies. We recommend: Collaboration between Tech Firms, Government, and ECOWAS to Co-Develop Sustainability Frameworks; Targeted Investment in Renewable Energy and Efficient Infrastructure. This approach can reduce emissions, strengthen energy security, and boost economic resilience.
