English
This chapter examines EU energy security through efforts to cut imported fossil fuel dependence by scaling renewables. It reviews energy-security concepts, import-dependency patterns and post-2022 supplier shifts, plus EU climate policy and solar PV and wind supply chains. Renewables reduce exposure to imported gas, oil and coal but do not automatically remove dependency risk: PV production is dominated by Chinese firms, creating new European vulnerabilities, while wind retains a stronger EU position. It argues deployment must be paired with domestic technological capacity, supplier diversification, grids, storage and recycling.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
The chapter feeds directly into the global debate on supply-chain resilience within the energy transition, complementing CSRD/ISSB disclosure of transition plans and the EU's Net-Zero Industry Act and Critical Raw Materials Act. Its distinction between PV's China concentration and wind's stronger EU industrial base is a useful empirical frame for transition-finance and industrial-policy discussions beyond Europe.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Energy security is considered through the EU’s efforts to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels by expanding renewables. The chapter reviews energy-security concepts, import-dependency patterns, post-2022 shifts in supplier relations, EU climate policy and supply chains for solar photovoltaics and wind turbines. Renewable energy can reduce exposure to imported gas, oil and coal, but it does not automatically remove dependency risks. Photovoltaic production is dominated by Chinese firms across raw materials, components and assembly, creating a new vulnerability for Europe. Wind energy offers a stronger European position because EU companies remain important turbine producers and assemblers. The chapter points to a broader resilience agenda: domestic technological capacity, supplier diversification, grid expansion, storage, recycling and sustainable lifecycle management must accompany renewable deployment.
