English

Delaware's limited energy infrastructure is strained by population growth and economic diversification, ranking 50th nationally in energy production. This study builds a comprehensive framework using a SWOT-AHP hybrid model to identify and assess hybrid energy systems that support self-sustained electricity generation while aligning with the state's long-term energy targets and reducing reliance on natural gas.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

Adds a subnational, US-state case to the global energy-transition literature, showing how multi-criteria decision tools (SWOT-AHP) can structure grid-decarbonization planning. Relevant to jurisdictions pursuing resilient, equitable energy access under rising demand, though it does not engage TCFD/ISSB disclosure frameworks directly.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Population growth and economic diversification have increasingly strained Delaware’s already limited energy infrastructure since the onset of COVID-19. Currently, the state ranks 50th nationally in total energy production. With nationwide electricity demand projected to rise from 2.8% to 8.2% over the next five years through 2029, there is an urgent need for reliable and resilient energy systems to mitigate the growing disparity between power supply and demand. Consequently, developing economically viable strategies for grid decarbonization has become a critical objective, shaping Delaware’s political ecology with a focus on reducing reliance on natural gas as a primary energy source. This study aims to establish a comprehensive framework for identifying and assessing potential hybrid energy systems using a SWOT-AHP Hybrid model supporting self-sustained electricity generation while aligning with the state’s long-term energy targets.
