This study exploits China's national green finance reform and innovation pilot zones as a quasi-natural experiment to test whether green finance causally reduces corporate carbon emissions. Using the pilot designation as an exogenous shock, it identifies the policy's effect on firm-level emissions. It contributes firm-level evidence on the real-world effectiveness of green finance policy.
