English
This study converts India's mandatory BRSR ESG disclosures into an adaptive supplier-governance decision framework. Combining Fuzzy BWM weighting with Fuzzy TOPSIS, it ranks eight listed Indian pharmaceutical firms across fourteen environmental and ESG sub-criteria. GHG emission intensity and renewable-energy adoption dominate supplier prioritisation, and rankings remain stable across eight weighting scenarios, showing disclosure mandates can build upstream adaptive capacity.

In the global GX context
As ISSB/CSRD-aligned mandates push ESG data into the public domain, this paper shows how regulated disclosure can be operationalised as supplier-governance infrastructure rather than mere compliance. It adds empirical evidence from India's BRSR regime to the global debate on linking disclosure regulation to transition and supply-chain resilience.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Organizations increasingly compete on their capacity to reconfigure operations quickly as regulatory, environmental and stakeholder conditions shift, making flexibility, adaptability and resilience central concerns of contemporary systems management. This study examines how mandatory environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosure can be converted into an adaptive mechanism for governing the supply base under conditions of uncertainty. Focusing on India's Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) regime and the environmentally exposed pharmaceutical industry, the paper asks how regulated ESG data can help focal firms sense, prioritise and reconfigure their supplier portfolios towards more resilient and environmentally superior configurations. We develop a disclosure-anchored decision framework that treats assured BRSR filings as a standing information infrastructure, and we combine the Fuzzy Best-Worst Method to weight ESG criteria with Fuzzy TOPSIS to rank eight major listed Indian pharmaceutical firms across fourteen environmental and ESG sub-criteria. The findings show that environmental criteria dominate supplier prioritisation, with greenhouse-gas emission intensity and renewable-energy adoption emerging as the most decisive levers, while community-oriented criteria are comparatively marginal. The rankings remain stable across eight alternative weighting scenarios, indicating that the resulting supply-base configuration is robust rather than an artefact of a particular set of priorities. Theoretically, the study reframes a national disclosure mandate as a source of decision-making flexibility and adaptive capacity, integrating institutional, stakeholder, legitimacy and dynamic-capability perspectives to explain how disclosure pressure is transmitted upstream. Practically, it offers a transparent, replicable and audit-ready decision-support tool that links disclosure regulation to resilient supplier governance, contributing to the flexible systems management agenda on managing sustainability under uncertainty.
