This paper evaluates the impact of Green Finance Reform and Innovation (GFRI) pilot zones in China on the environmental performance of polluting firms. Using empirical methods, it finds that GFRIs led to reductions in pollution emissions among targeted firms. The study provides evidence on the effectiveness of market-based environmental regulations in the Chinese context.
