📄 Abstract（原文）
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of the Indian economy, contributing roughly 30% to the national GDP and employing over 110 million people. As India commits to ambitious climate goals, including achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070, the role of the MSME sector in sustainable development has become critically important. However, the transition toward sustainable business models is fraught with significant challenges unique to the Indian context. This paper explores the structural, financial, regulatory, and cognitive barriers impeding the adoption of sustainable practices among Indian MSMEs. Through a systematic review of contemporary Indian literature and policy documents, the study identifies key challenges, including the high cost of green technology, complex regulatory overlaps between central and state pollution control boards, a severe lack of access to green finance, and low ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) awareness among owner-managers. The paper concludes that without targeted, localized interventions—such as integrating green financing with the existing CLCSS framework and simplifying environmental compliance—the sustainable transition of Indian MSMEs will remain stunted.
