In the global GX context

While focused on South Korea, this study introduces a methodology that combines global supply chain identifiers and certification databases to enhance ESG disclosure authenticity. This is highly relevant to global efforts under ISSB and CSRD to move beyond self-declaratory reporting, and offers a practical framework for multi-tier supply chain transparency in the fashion industry.

📄 Abstract(原文)

Purpose – This research aims to analyze the data gap (Data Gap) in the South Korean fashion industry by constructing a reputation status comparison table. Furthermore, it overcomes the methodological limitations of prior studies that relied on declarative disclosures, thereby addressing corporate greenwashing. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study evaluates disclosure authenticity by introducing interconnectivity with global supply chain identification frameworks (OS ID) and internationally recognized certification databases (GOTS/GRS) as core metrics. Additionally, it proposes a practical supply chain data management roadmap for domestic brands, reflecting the recent restructuring trends in fashion business models Findings – By transitioning from declaratory reporting to data-driven traceability using OS ID and GOTS/GRS certifications, companies can bridge data gaps across multi-tier supply chains. This validation process provides a highly effective mechanism to substantiate sustainable claims and proactively mitigate greenwashing risks in the market. Research Implications – The integration of standardized identifiers and verified certification databases establishes a robust benchmark for supply chain transparency. For policymakers and industry associations, this research serves as a foundational guide for establishing rigorous ESG compliance guidelines. For corporate executives, the findings offer a strategic roadmap to overhaul existing business models. Ultimately, these practical methodologies empower investors and consumers to make informed, data-backed decisions.
