📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

While Pakistan's context differs from developed economies, the identified barriers—data gaps, short-termism, SME challenges—are universal in emerging markets. The paper offers insights for global investors and multinational corporations assessing ESG risks in supply chains. The SECP's alignment with IFRS standards mirrors global convergence towards ISSB frameworks.

📄 Abstract(原文)

This article evaluates the barriers to effective Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, essential for global investment and sustainability. ESG includes environmental impacts, social responsibilities, and governance risks, with disclosures aiding stakeholders in understanding organizational management. In Pakistan, challenges such as data limitations, a focus on short-term profit, low awareness among small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and a lack of standardized frameworks impede ESG reporting. The country's poor ESG index rankings signal significant sustainability issues. To improve practices, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) is working on collaborative platforms, voluntary guidelines, and capacity-building initiatives aligned with global standards like IFRS. Overcoming these challenges is crucial for enhancing credibility, investor confidence, and long-term sustainable growth in Pakistan.
