English
This study evaluates the ROI of ESG integration and net-zero transitions in mid-sized enterprises using a mixed-methods approach. It finds quantifiable operational efficiencies (energy, supply-chain, waste), improved access to green financing, lower cost of capital, and competitive gains from Scope 3 compliance. A strategic framework helps executives balance capex with short-term yield and long-term value.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Abstract: The transition toward net-zero carbon emissions has evolved from a corporate social responsibility initiative into a strategic imperative for mid-sized enterprises. Unlike multinational corporations with dedicated sustainability resources, mid-sized firms face unique resource constraints, capital allocation trade-offs, and operational vulnerabilities during green transitions. This study evaluates the return on investment (ROI) of integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks within mid-sized enterprises, specifically measuring financial and operational outcomes driven by net-zero strategies. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the research analyzes financial metrics, energy-efficiency yields, regulatory compliance costs, and supply-chain integration across a sample of mid-sized firms undergoing decarbonization. The findings demonstrate that targeted net-zero transitions generate quantifiable operational efficiencies—including reduced energy consumption, optimized supply-chain resilience, and lower waste-management overheads. Financial ROI is further bolstered through enhanced access to green financing, reduced cost of capital, and mitigated climate-related regulatory risks. Additionally, early adopters gain competitive differentiation in enterprise supply chains that increasingly prioritize Scope 3 emissions compliance. The paper concludes with a strategic framework tailored for executive decision-makers in mid-sized enterprises, offering actionable metrics to balance capital expenditure with short-term yield and long-term enterprise value creation. By establishing a direct link between net-zero milestones and core business performance, this research underscores that strategic ESG integration is not a cost center, but a catalyst for sustained operational efficiency and financial resilience.
