English
This study examines how ESG disclosures affect individual investors' decisions in Vietnam's stock market, integrating TPB, Signaling, and Legitimacy theories. Using PLS-SEM on 412 investors across HOSE, HNX, and UPCoM, it finds all ESG dimensions positively influence investment intention, with governance disclosure (β=0.284) and ESG assurance (β=0.245) strongest. Corporate reputation partially mediates, and intention strongly translates into actual allocation (β=0.512), offering evidence for emerging-market sustainable finance.

In the global GX context
Amid global adoption of ISSB/TCFD and CSRD, this paper adds emerging-market evidence on how retail investors actually use ESG disclosures. It highlights assurance and governance disclosure as key drivers, relevant to disclosure-infrastructure debates in both developed and developing markets.

📄 Abstract(原文)
This study evaluates the impact of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosures on the investment decisions of individual investors in the Vietnamese stock market. Integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), Signaling Theory, and Legitimacy Theory, the paper examines how ESG components (Environmental - ENV, Social - SOC, Governance - GOV) and independent ESG Assurance (ASS) influence investment intentions (INT) and actual portfolio allocation (DEC). Structural Equation Modeling (SEM/PLS-SEM) was applied to empirical survey data collected from 412 individual investors across HOSE, HNX, and UPCoM, utilizing 5,000 bootstrap resamples. The empirical findings reveal that all ESG disclosure dimensions significantly and positively affect investment intentions, with Governance Disclosure (GOV) (β=0.284,p<0.001) and ESG Assurance (ASS)(β=0.245,p<0.001) exerting the strongest impacts. Furthermore, Corporate Reputation (REP) serves as a critical partial mediator, and Investment Intention (INT) strongly translates into Actual Investment Decision (DEC)(β=0.512,p<0.001). Based on these insights, targeted strategic recommendations are provided for listed firms, capital market regulators, and retail investors to advance sustainable financial development in emerging markets.
