English

This chapter proposes a Contextual Human Rights-Based ESG Audit Model (CHREAM) to detect gaps between corporate human rights commitments and actual practices. It integrates five stages: human rights risk mapping, due diligence assessment, stakeholder-based verification, impact validation, and decoupling detection with audit opinion. The model embeds developing-country contexts such as indigenous rights, land-use conflicts, and informal labor.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

Aligns with the global push under CSRD, EU CSDDD, and ISSB social disclosures to move from commitment to verified human rights performance. The decoupling-detection lens offers a transferable audit logic for assurance providers assessing social disclosures in emerging markets.

📄 Abstract(原文)

The growing adoption of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting has transformed corporate accountability practices worldwide. Many companies have publicly committed to human rights while continuing to face controversies over labor exploitation, land conflicts, discrimination, and other social issues. This chapter aims to develop a Contextual Human Rights-Based ESG Audit Model (CHREAM). The proposed model consists of five integrated stages: human rights risk mapping, human rights due diligence assessment, stakeholder-based verification, impact validation, and decoupling detection and audit opinion. CHREAM incorporates contextual considerations relevant to developing countries, including indigenous peoples' rights, land-use conflicts, informal labor arrangements, and stakeholder participation.
