English

Comparative analysis of ESG non-financial reporting by four major Russian energy companies (Gazprom, RusHydro, Inter RAO, Rosseti). Reporting focuses on final ESG outcomes while project-management effectiveness indicators remain under-disclosed. The paper identifies gaps—no unified project-oriented ESG requirements, limited digitalization, weak use of project performance metrics—and proposes a project-oriented disclosure approach with expanded indicators and digital reporting tools.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters

In the global GX context

Adds a non-Western, project-level lens to global disclosure scholarship dominated by TCFD/ISSB/CSRD frameworks, highlighting how project-management metrics could enrich ESG reporting beyond outcome-only disclosure—relevant to debates on transition-plan and capex-alignment disclosure.

📄 Abstract(原文)

The article explores current approaches to the disclosure of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) indicators in the activities of major Russian energy companies and their integration into the implementation of investment, infrastructure, environmental, and digital projects. A comparative analysis of the non-financial reporting practices of PJSC Gazprom, PJSC RusHydro, PJSC Inter RAO, and PJSC Rosseti was conducted, making it possible to identify common trends and specific features in the disclosure of project-related information. The study demonstrates that current reporting practices are primarily focused on presenting final ESG outcomes, while indicators reflecting the effectiveness of project management remain insufficiently disclosed. The paper identifies the key challenges in the development of non-financial reporting for projects and programs in the Russian energy sector, including the lack of unified requirements for project-oriented ESG disclosure, insufficient digitalization of reporting processes, and the limited use of project performance indicators. The article proposes directions for improving non-financial reporting through the development of a project-oriented approach, expansion of disclosed indicators, implementation of digital reporting tools, and stronger integration of project management principles into corporate reporting systems.
