English
Using Starbucks' coffee ground cup as a case, this study builds a closed-loop circular system along the 3Rs, covering waste collection, low-carbon manufacturing, green communication, and remanufacturing. It analyzes value for ESG performance, brand differentiation, and low-carbon supply chains, identifying three bottlenecks: defective coffee composite materials, weak public sustainable aesthetics, and high nationwide recycling costs. It proposes material upgrading, hierarchical recycling, and diversified recycled products, offering replicable green transformation references for China's coffee and tea chains.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
This case adds to global circular-economy and sustainable-branding scholarship, illustrating how FMCG chains can operationalize 3R principles across the life cycle. It offers a China-context example relevant to CSRD/ISSB circularity and waste-related disclosures, though it does not engage disclosure frameworks directly.

📄 Abstract(原文)
Against global carbon neutrality and China’s Dual Carbon targets, the FMCG sector faces plastic pollution and organic waste crises. Taking Starbucks’ coffee ground cup as a case, this paper builds a closed-loop system following the 3Rs of circular economy. It sorts out the full life cycle covering waste collection, low-carbon intelligent manufacturing, scenario-based green communication and post-consumer remanufacturing, and analyzes its value in elevating ESG performance, shaping differentiated brand competitiveness and building low-carbon supply chains. Three bottlenecks are identified: defective coffee composite materials, insufficient public sustainable aesthetic awareness and high nationwide recycling costs. Target countermeasures on material upgrading, hierarchical recycling layout and diversified recycled products are proposed. This study extends circular design research and delivers replicable green transformation references for China’s coffee and new tea chains, enriching interdisciplinary studies on circular design and brand marketing.
